About TripDecode

Travel deeper.
Plan smarter.

TripDecode is an independent travel research and planning platform for people who want to understand a trip before they commit to it. Where should you go? How long should you stay? Which places work well together? What will the journey cost? What could make the plan harder once you are there?

Why TripDecode exists

Travel information is everywhere. Useful answers are not.

Planning usually starts with inspiration. Then the practical questions begin. How many days do you need? Which places fit naturally into the same trip? What happens after the train or bus stops? What needs to be booked in advance?

Most of the answers are out there. The problem is that they are scattered across official websites, maps, transport operators, booking platforms, travel publications and traveller reports.

TripDecode brings those pieces together in one place.

01How long should I really stay?
02Can these places realistically fit into one journey?
03How do I actually get there, including the final stretch?
04What will materially affect the trip before I arrive?
Beyond the “Top 10”

A destination guide should explain how the journey fits together.

01 / TIMING

When to go and why it matters

The best time depends on what you want from the trip. Weather, seasons, crowds and local conditions can change the experience completely.

02 / ROUTING

How places connect

Flights and trains are only part of the journey. Ferries, trailheads, park entrances, local transport and the final connection often matter just as much.

03 / REALISM

Whether the route really works

Two places can look close on a map and still take hours to connect. TripDecode looks at the journey as it works in practice, not just the distance between two points.

04 / PRACTICALITY

What is worth knowing before you arrive

Entry requirements, local customs, likely costs, advance bookings and the small details that are easy to miss before you arrive.

Every destination works differently. The information should reflect that.
How TripDecode researches travel

Research first. Page second.

TripDecode does not begin by deciding how many attractions a page should contain. I first try to understand how the destination works for a traveller.

Different questions need different sources. An embassy may be the right place to check entry rules. A transport operator may be better for a route or timetable. Traveller reports can reveal practical details that official pages sometimes overlook.

Important facts are checked against relevant authoritative sources whenever possible. If something is seasonal, uncertain or difficult to confirm, TripDecode should say that clearly instead of pretending the answer is certain.

Baibhav Nath, founder of TripDecode
The person behind TripDecode

Hi, I’m Baibhav.

Travel has shaped the way I see the world for more than two decades. What began as a curiosity to explore unfamiliar places gradually became something deeper: a way to understand people, landscapes, cultures and the small details that make every journey feel different.

Over time, work took me across countries I might never have discovered otherwise. Those journeys taught me that the most memorable parts of travel are often not the famous landmarks, but the moments in between: finding your way through an unfamiliar city, taking the longer road, talking to someone you never expected to meet, or discovering a place you had never planned to stop.

I created TripDecode for travellers who want more than a list of places. The aim is to help you understand a destination well enough to plan with confidence, while still leaving room for the unexpected moments that make travel memorable.

Where I’ve been so far

Over time, I cared less about counting places and more about understanding them.

Road journeys, work travel and international trips changed the way I think about pace, routes and what makes a journey memorable. My own travels shape the questions I ask. Research allows TripDecode to answer those questions far beyond the places I have personally visited.

How the road found me

A few journeys changed the way I think about travel.

Some lessons came from long roads. Others came from staying in one place for longer than planned. These experiences shaped the way I think about travel and, eventually, the way I built TripDecode.

A Himalayan journey

What the Himalayas taught me

A trek in the Himalayas stripped travel back to the essentials: breath, water, warmth, weather, distance and time. I came back wanting fewer checklist trips and more journeys with enough space to actually experience the place.

Go farther when it is worth going farther. Stay longer when a place deserves more time.
Baibhav Nath and Ankita travelling together

Travel became part of our life together

Travel later became part of the life I share with my wife, Ankita. Some trips are carefully planned. Others change completely once we arrive. That reminded me that there is no single correct way to travel, and TripDecode should never pretend otherwise.

My travel style

Enough structure to remove avoidable friction. Enough freedom to change the plan.

I like knowing where I am going, how I will get there, how long the journey really takes and what needs to be booked. Once those basics are clear, I prefer to leave enough freedom to change the plan.

I would rather spend more time somewhere worthwhile than rush through five places simply to say I have been there.

Plan enough to remove unnecessary uncertainty. Leave enough unplanned to allow the journey to surprise you.
How TripDecode ratings work

Structured comparison, not a single gut feeling.

TripDecode uses defined categories and scoring rules so that destination comparisons are more consistent. The full methodology will explain exactly how the scores are built.

Culture

Cultural depth, living traditions, festivals, local expression, food culture and how accessible those experiences are to a traveller.

Landmarks

How distinctive the landmarks are, their historical importance, visual appeal, variety and how practical they are to visit.

Wildlife

Biodiversity, protected areas, the chance of meaningful wildlife experiences, access, infrastructure and conservation.

Food

Food is scored separately so a strong culinary identity is recognised without influencing unrelated parts of the destination rating.

A higher score is useful for comparison, but it does not mean a destination will suit everyone. The full weighting and scoring methodology will be published separately.

Editorial independence

Commercial relationships can support TripDecode. They should not decide what TripDecode says.

Affiliate links

TripDecode may earn a commission when you book through certain external links. Those commissions do not influence destination ratings.

Advertising

Advertising may help support the platform, but it remains separate from editorial conclusions and the rating methodology.

Sponsored collaborations

Paid collaborations with tourism organisations or brands are clearly identified as sponsored.

Travel changes. So will TripDecode.

Visa rules, transport routes, access conditions, prices and opening hours can change. TripDecode reviews its content periodically and updates important information when it changes. If you spot something that looks wrong or outdated, I want to hear about it.
